The Country Pantry
The Country Pantry is an ongoing ecumenical activity of 11 churches in the Clinton–Clark Mills–Westmoreland area. The Pantry’s mission is to provide supplemental food and related items on a monthly basis to qualified needy families and individuals residing in the nearby area. The Pantry, whose storage and distribution facility is located at Annunciation Church in Clark Mills, is supported by volunteers and ongoing donations of food and money from area churches. School children, Scout groups, community organizations and individuals also support our efforts. The Pantry is administered by a Board with representatives from the churches, including Mrs. Cathy Fragale and Mrs. Jeanne Roback from St. Mary’s.
In addition to regular monthly distribution of food items, special projects include Easter baskets, the Christmas Star Project, Thanksgiving turkeys, School Bells Project and Mittens and Hats for children. The St. Mary’s community is a major supporter of the Pantry, contributing food and monetary donations and most importantly, volunteer workers. Alongside volunteers from other churches, St. Mary’s parishioners transport food contributions to the Pantry and sort, stock, pack and prepare items for pickup by recipients. Additional volunteers are always welcome. If you are interested in participating in this worthy endeavor, you can obtain further information by contacting Cathy (853-2306) or Jeanne (737-7650)
