Croghan Stuff…

Hard to believe that August is just about over and September begins this week. As we enter into the very busy fall season I want to mention two things that will be taking place here at St. Mary’s.

First of all, beginning the weekend of September 10/11, we will be participating in the Stewardship / Enhanced Giving Program initiated throughout the Diocese by Bishop Cunningham. The Bishop has engaged the services of the Cunneen Company to work with each of the parishes in the seven counties of the Syracuse Diocese as a way of increasing the finances of each parish and also each parishioners awareness of their gifts of time, talent & treasure. This program consists of talks over three weekends and concludes with the commitment weekend on September 24/25. The goal of the program is to help parishioners recommit themselves to the parish spiritually and financially. We will be sharing more information about this with you soon.

The second item that I want to mention is the Catholic Church-wide institution of the new Roman Missal. In short, the new missal makes some adjustments to the responses at Mass as well as the Eucharistic Prayers. We will be gradually phasing these changes in as we approach the first weekend of Advent when all parishes are asked to begin using the new prayers.

Both of these programs will ask us to go through some adjustments in our parish life and worship here in Clinton. St. Mary’s has been through many of these transitions and changes and is alive and well after one hundred and sixty-one years. Your continued prayers and patience will help to take this parish into the future.

Thanks for all that you do.

Fr. Croghan
